This CPB is revised to state that palatopharyngoplasty (uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), uvulopharyngoplasty, uvulopalatal flap, expansion pharyngoplasty, lateral pharyngoplasty, transpalatal advancement pharyngoplasty, relocation pharyngoplasty) is considered medically necessary for members with obstructive sleep apnea who meet the criteria for CPAP or AutoPAP, but who are intolerant to CPAP or AutoPAP.  This CPB is revised to state that palatopharyngoplasty for upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS) is considered experimental and investigational.  This CPB has been revised to state that devices for positional therapy (e.g., the Lunoa System) are considered experimental and investigational for the treatment of positional obstructive sleep apnea.
