Help stamp out influenza this flu season by ensuring that your patients get vaccinated

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Ensuring immunization services are maintained or reinitiated is essential for protecting individuals and communities from vaccine-preventable diseases and outbreaks and reducing the burden of respiratory illness during the upcoming influenza season.1

Encourage your patients to get immunized if they haven’t yet had a flu shot.

Who’s at risk

People at high risk for flu complications are the same ones vulnerable to COVID-19. These include patients who:

  • Are 65 years or older
  • Have asthma
  • Have cardiovascular disease, diabetes or kidney disease
  • Have had a stroke
  • Are young children
  • Are pregnant
  • Have immunocompromised conditions

How you can help

  • Strongly recommend that patients get the flu vaccine.
  • Make sure patients know when and where to get flu vaccines. They can get a vaccine at your office or at pharmacies, or they can schedule a vaccination appointment at any MinuteClinic® location, including those within CVS® HealthHUBTM locations.
  • Hold flu vaccination clinics. Patients can get COVID-19 boosters at the same time they receive flu vaccinations.2
  • Share the latest CDC flu prevention guidelines ― like good handwashing, not touching the eyes, nose or mouth, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.

For more information, you can view the latest influenza vaccine Clinical Policy Bulletin.
